Joys of the Season

Caffeinated Christmas Card Challenge #23

I'm sharing a card I created for the Caffeinated Christmas Card Challenge!   This month’s theme is HOLLY!  Be sure to link up your card(s) for this month’s challenge for the chance to win a prize from one of the many sponsors, one being A Colorful Life Designs!

I stamped the gingerbread man and holly in Nocturne ink and embossed with clear embossing powder.  I them masked both images and stamped the cup image, also in Nocturne ink, and embossed that image with clear embossing powder.   I colored the masked image with alcohol markers and fussy-cut it out.  I then stamped the sentiment with watermark ink on the dron if the cup and embossed with white detail embossing powder.

I stenciled the Pine Sprig Doily stencil onto a card base front with complimentary ink colors and then splattered with metallic watercolors with a fan brush. 

I adhered the image to the card front with foam tape and then added some shimmer to the holly leaves and berries.  For a final touch I added Glossy Accents to the berries for more dimension.

Penguin Pals Card Kit

My partner surprised me with the Penguin Pals Card Kit by Gina K. Designs and Therm-O-Web!

There is so much you can do with this kit!  I created two cards (so far!), one using the stencil that came with the kit and the other card I used some wintery background paper.

 

For this card I used some patterned paper in the background instead of ink blending with the stencil.

A great tip on using this layering stencil is to position the stencil in the corner of your stamp platform to ensure each stencil lines up in the same spot.
